Empire State Building

The Empire State Building in Midtown Manhattan, is New York City's most famous Landmark, and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. It first opened in 1931 and rises to more than a quarter of a mile into the sky, where the entire city of New York can be seen at a 360 degree angle.  Up top, it has a glass-enclosed viewing area, as well as an outdoor terrace, where the panoramic views are magnificent.

Construction of the Empire State Building began in 1930 and was build with a stell frame weigh over 60,000 tons. The exterior consists of 200,000+ cubic feet of granite and limestone, over 10 million bricks, as well at over 700 tons of stainless steel. So strong is the structure of the Empire State Building that it sustained minimal damage when a B-25 bomber accidentally crashed into it in 1045, 14 people were killed, but the building was pretty much left unscathed.

Location and hours of operation:

The Empire State building is located at  350 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, and is open daily from 9:30am to 12:00 Midnight, with the last elevator going to the top at 11:15pm.
